Connecting The Dots

Why I Notice Things Differently

Helping experienced businesses become as visible, understood and trusted online as they are in real life

I didn’t set out to become a Digital Dot Connector

Yes, I really did live aboard a yacht – sailing up and down Australia’s east coast for a number of years and then heading off to SE Asia for a 5 year sailing adventure – which have really shaped the way I see life and business: flexible, resourceful, and always scanning the horizon for what’s coming next.

When I came back onshore, I lent back into my IT skillsets, shifting into virtual support and digital management. I saw first-hand how overwhelming the growing jungle of online tools was becoming for business owners. That’s where my knack for simplifying tech and connecting the dots really clicked into place.

I’m a former sailor turned Digital Dot Connector, helping experienced businesses stop becoming the internet’s best-kept secret.

If you’d met me years ago, you’d have found me in very different places: training office staff on Microsoft software, managing multimedia eLearning primary school curriculum projects, or even steering a yacht through Southeast Asia.

Technology has changed. People haven't.

Throughout my career, I’ve found myself drawn to the same challenge over and over again … helping people make sense of things that feel confusing, overwhelming or unnecessarily complicated.

Whether I was working in Microsoft training, building online learning, teaching digital marketing, sailing around Australia, or now helping businesses navigate Google and AI Search, the thread has always been the same.

• I observe first

• I look for patterns

• I ask questions

• Then I connect the dots that others haven’t yet noticed.

Today, that way of thinking has a name.

Digital Dot Connector.

Why this matters to your business

As search has evolved beyond keywords into understanding relationships, context and trust, I’ve noticed something fascinating.

The businesses being recommended are not always the most experienced.

The businesses being recommended aren’t always the best businesses.

They’re the businesses whose digital presence makes the most sense to Google and AI Search.

Not necessarily to people!

That’s why I no longer see my role as helping businesses “do more marketing.”

I help uncover the digital dots that are hidden in plain sight, so your business can become as visible, understood and trusted online as it already is in real life.

Because sometimes, one small observation is all it takes to change everything.

A Life of Sharing and Speaking

One of the greatest privileges throughout my career has been the opportunity to share ideas that help people see things differently.

Whether presenting workshops, speaking at conferences, facilitating training sessions or mentoring business owners one-to-one, I’ve always enjoyed taking complex ideas and making them practical, understandable and immediately useful.

Looking back, I can see a common thread running through every presentation I’ve ever delivered. It was never just about teaching technology or marketing. It was about helping people connect the dots, think differently and leave with greater clarity than when they arrived.

Today, that same approach shapes every conversation I have, whether I’m speaking to an audience of hundreds or sitting beside one business owner exploring what may be hidden in plain sight.
